1 John 4: Testing and Searching

The Future…

Hello, wonderful people! This week we are on the fourth chapter in the book of first John. Chapter 4 contains some rather interesting verses, especially on testing spirits and the coming of the antichrist. It gives a warning of what we are to do in the future with the coming of future spirits that are of the devil.

When you hear the word “spirit” what do you think? Some people are scared of the ideas of spirits. Others don’t believe in their existence. The Bible though is very clear that there are spirits that fill this world. It also warns believers that in the coming years, spirits are going to get worse and now deceptive. We will see more of a presence of the devil.

Test the Spirits

This section of 1 John explains much about spirits and discerning if they are evil or from God.

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:1-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We are warned false prophets will come. It is going to be so much harder to tell what truth is. People are going to think that I am stupid and naive to write this. I believe that is the devil speaking. Christianity and Judism run deep to the beginning of history. God was there in the beginning of time. The devil will try to take you down. Social media, other religions, and other things will try and take you down.

You are greater then the devil.

The devil has no power over who you are or what you do. If you are saved by God, you are able to combat the devil. Don’t let the evil spirits trick you. Look to God and read the Bible for truths.
